Add domains and subtopics
Add your own domains and subtopics, on top of the platform’s built-in ones, so your questions can target them. Today only questions can use a custom domain or subtopic — decisions, pools, acts, missions and AI generation accept platform domains and subtopics only.
Only your dimension’s owner can add or delete a domain or subtopic (not an organisation admin — this is one of the few authoring actions reserved to the owner alone). For a dimension owned by an organisation, that’s the owning organisation’s owner. Admins don’t see the TAXONOMY tab at all.
- Open your dimension and go to the TAXONOMY tab.
- Under ADD DOMAIN, type a name (2–40 characters, up to 20 domains per dimension), pick a colour, and click + ADD DOMAIN.
- The name can’t match a reserved word — a platform domain’s own name, display name or short code, a platform subtopic’s name or id, or one of
admin, system, platform, official, dimension, org. The check is case-insensitive and also matches on the slugified form. A duplicate name (yours or the platform’s) is also rejected. - Under your new domain, type a subtopic name (2–40 characters, up to 15 subtopics per domain) and click + SUBTOPIC. The same reserved-word check applies, and the name must be unique across your whole dimension, not just within this domain.
- Delete a domain to delete all of its subtopics with it. Deleting a subtopic doesn’t delete the questions or decisions that reference it — they keep the old value, which will no longer resolve as valid.
