Write questions that pass validation

Write a question for your dimension and get it accepted on the first save.

  1. Open your dimension and go to the QUESTIONS tab.
  2. Click + ADD QUESTION.
  3. Fill in every field — see Question format for exact types and limits. All fields are required except tags.
  4. Keep the prompt and every answer inside the tier’s length budget (Question format). Going over is the single most common rejection.
  5. Make the correct answer’s length similar to the distractors’ — don’t let it stand out as obviously longer or shorter.
  6. Write each explanation about that specific answer: the correct-answer explanation must share at least two real words with the correct answer itself, not just restate the topic.
  7. Don’t write a prompt containing “NOT” (uppercase only), “EXCEPT” or “least likely” (either case), and don’t write an answer option containing “all of the above”, “none of the above” or “both A and B” — these are rejected outright.
  8. Click CREATE. A rejected question shows the exact rule it failed next to the field it concerns; fix that field and resubmit.
What you see What it means
A finding under the tier radio buttons The tier itself is invalid.
A finding under the question text The prompt is too long for its tier, or it contains a banned pattern.
A finding under the distractors Wrong distractor count, an empty or duplicate answer, or the length-bias gap between the correct answer and the distractors is too wide.
A finding under the explanations A required explanation is missing, or the correct-answer explanation doesn’t share enough wording with the correct answer.
A finding with no field (shown at the bottom) Everything else — an invalid domain/subtopic pairing, a missing question type/AI relevance/Bloom’s level, or a duplicate of an existing question’s prompt.
A generic “Invalid question data” with no field A basic shape problem caught before the content rules run — e.g. an answer over 500 characters or a prompt under 10. The 10-tag / 50-character tag limit only applies to this form, not bulk upload.
